Medicare Rebates and GP Referrals
Do I need a referral and Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)?

No, you don't need a MHCP to book in sessions. However, if you are wanting to obtain the Medicare rebate a referral and MCHP is essential.
Does it matter if my referral is to another psychologist?

No, you are able to access services from any psychologist of your choosing. In order for us to claim the rebate on your behalf, we will need a copy of the referral and MHCP.
I can't get in with my local GP? How do I get a referral.

One perk of COVID is we now have access to telehealth GPs who can complete a MHCP for you. Online companies such as: Instascripts, QDoctor, HolaHealth, AussieScripts all advertise MHCP services. However, you may need to fill out a form and request a MHCP prior to your appointment. Details are on their websites.
Can I get a rebate and make a claim from my private health to cover sessions?

No, you may only claim from either Medicare or a Private Health fund for each session. Private Heath will not contribute towards the ‘gap’ between the Medicare rebate and the consultation fees. Your receipt will have a code specific to either Medicare or Private Health depending on your requirements.
Do you bulk bill?

Unfortunately, we do not bulk bill at this time.
What happens when my MHCP is used up?

MHCP reset each calendar year on January 1st. Speak with you GP about when you will be eligible for another set of 10. If you have used all 10 sessions with us, we may be able to offer a discount until you are eligible for a new MHCP.
